SHOCKING!!
HORRIFYING
When I was asked to be a bridesmaid at my dad's youngest stepdaughter's wedding, it was quite a surprise because I barely knew the girl. I had only met her once... Then when I learned I was going to be her maid of honor I asked why not her best friend? The bride replied, "She's not pretty enough..." The groom passed around copies of his registry at work. Hint taken, the bosses threw a shower and we all gave gifts. Then the groom pinned a wedding invitation to the bulletin board but told us all privately not to show up.
On the day of the bridal shower, the bride took the mother of the groom aside and confided to her that in the event she decided to dump the groom before the wedding, she planned to keep all the gifts for herself. At the reception, the bride was talking with a friend about another friend who had been unable to travel to the wedding. The bride said, "It doesn't matter that much because he sent a check for $200. That's all that counts."
